Death In His Grave (Performance Video) from john mark mcmillan on Vimeo.
Though the Earth cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Billows calmed on raging seas
for the souls of men she craved
Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
disfigured and disdained
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But woke with the keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ laid
Death in his grave
So 3 days in darkness slept
The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throws of death
And overturn his rule
Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke holding keys
To Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
He has cheated Hell and seated us above the fall
In desperate places he paid our wages one time once and for all
great song! hurry up and release the album!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI dig this song!
ReplyDeleteSo good sir. so, so good.
ReplyDeleteI really like this song, and we have a guitar player at church who absolutely rocks the bridge. I actually like having that riff stuck in my head. But the odd use of words kind of drives me crazy. Do you really mean the "throws" of death? Or is that "throes"? And can you explain how Jesus "paid our wages"?
ReplyDeleteI think "paid our wages" refers to Romans 6:23; i.e. "The wages of sin is death..." It's "wages" because we justly deserve death, but "paid" because Jesus canceled our debt, "once and for all," by his own death.
ReplyDeleteI meant "throes" and yes "wages" is a reference to Romans 6:23...
ReplyDeleteSooo where can i download that for my ipod?
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteHis songs just touch a part of the soul that only Gods presence can manage to find...John Mark has been an inspiration to me and my music. I struggle with the discernment of Gods will for my life...but John helps...

ReplyDeleteA couple months ago some friends introduced me to the Medicine. It has been a frequent companion since. Thanks John Mark, for making (good) music. Also, the cinematography in these videos is just fantastic. Good stuff all around.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question. What amp are you playing through for this video? That tone is the tone I hear in my head and have been trying to find for a couple years now. It is just incredible!
What is James' guitar tuned to for slide?
